Cannot export csv files from aggregate

Hi,

I built many simple "test" forms with ODK Build, but have not been able to
export any of the data collected through these forms to CSVs using
Aggregate. When I go to export, I get the "Generation in progress"
message...and then nothing happens...ever...doesn't matter which form, so I
wind up cancelling the export. These are all very simple forms with very
few submissions. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks!

Susie

You may need to click to a different tab/sub-tab, then back to the Exported
Submissions tab.

To conserve Google AppEngine quota consumption, we only infrequently
refresh the data on the web pages unless you are actively clicking around
in the UI. I don't remember what our refresh period is on the Expors tab,
but it is likely 10 - 30 seconds between refreshes. And if you never click
anything on the web page, we eventually stop doing any updates. Clicking
to a different open window on your browser does nothing.

By clicking to a different sub-tab within ODK Aggregate, then back, will
always cause a reload/refresh of the screen.

Mitch

··· ---------- If that does not solve the problem, please invite me as a developer on your system http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AppEngineTroubleshooting

I am on vacation until the 23rd, so won't be able to investigate this
anytime soon.

Hi Mitch and team,

I have setup my own ODK Aggregate server but recently I am have the same issue of not being able to export some forms. What could be wrong? Is there alog file I could check? I receive "failure - abandoned all retry attempts" error.

Please help.

Paul,

If you are using Google App Engine you need to upgrade to 1.3.4 because of
a change to google app engine that will cause "creation of new publishers
to Google Spreadsheets to fail, export to files to fail, form deletions to
fail, and purge-sent-submisions actions to fail." If you are using
tomcat/mysql/postgres this does not apply and I am not sure what your
problem is.

Thanks Kennedy,

I am using Mozilla browser. I have tried ODK briefcase but the pull data fails. The error message is that I need to change the authentication. However I am able to pull other forms with the same credentials. More research indicates the failure to export could be attributed to low Java Virtual Machine memory.

Any one with an idea on how to increase the JVM memory in Windows. I have tried a number of options with mininal sucess.

Hi Paul,

By tagging onto this e-mail thread, you have confounded what are two
separate problems.

This confounding of threads is why we ask that you always create a new
e-mail thread rather than reply and add-into an existing one.

If it is, in fact, the same issue, then we will either direct all updates
to one or the other thread or create an issue ticket and track the joint
issue there.

··· ---------------------- Are you running ODK Aggregate on a local MySQL / PostgreSQL server?

File exports directly from the server require a large enough JVM to hold
the entire exported file in memory, so yes, with larger data sets, you will
need a very large JVM.
