Cascading selects not working

Hello,

I did the cascading following each steps mentioned in the
new_cascading_select.xls file. But its not working. Any help?
I added the cascading as select_one district and in the choice_filter
column
state=${state}.

Semira,

Download the examples at http://xlsform.org/#cascade or
https://gumroad.com/l/odk-form-design-tips. Those should work out of
the box. Build on those examples.

Yaw

Hello!

I have a very simple cascade that I created in one xls, and converted without an issue into an XML :heart_eyes:

This cascade is your generic States > County with only 25 rows.

The cascade needs to be on six separate forms, and when I copy/pasted it onto other xls forms, when I went to convert, I received the following message:
Error: 'list' object has no attribute 'startswith'

Me and another extremely experienced ODKer reviewed in fine detail the entire form and confirmed there were no typos in the copy/pasted form and I additionally have reviewed all ODK posts related to cascades and additionally Nafundi's gumroad.com template to confirm any possible errors on my end.

I believe that there might be an issue related to a UTF conversion issue for the opendatakit.com/xiframe site. Any help or insights would be extremely appreciated
