I'm sorry to hear the update has caused you some problems! It sounds
like you have a blank time field with a read-only appearance. I
suspect that it has been used to try to get the amount of time
enumerators spend in each question, does that sound right?
This strategy relies on the fact that blank date and time fields used
to default to the current time when they were first accessed. This was
a long-standing bug because blank values are supposed to be blank. We
have addressed this in 1.6.1.
If you want to keep using this strategy to get a rough estimate of
time spent per question, you'll need to go back to a Collect version
before 1.6.0. You can download these at
Note that this approach is not a reliable way of knowing how long
enumerators have spent on each question because swiping back and forth
in a form, jumping between questions and editing a form after
completion are not tracked. That is, the time field only captures the
first time an enumerator lands on its screen.
We know that getting accurate timing information for forms is
important so the May release will include a new feature for collecting
timing data. I encourage you to review the feature design and comment
on it if you are interested -
Do let me know whether I understood your needs correctly. If not, it
would be helpful to learn more about how this field has been used.
Hélène.
