Connect to self hosted odk central using odk collect via IP

Hello
I have setup central on premise, and it's working fine, when connecting with odk collect it works using the domain name , when i switch to IP it fails to connect and there is a need to use IP , is there any way i can allow collect to connect with both domain name and IP ?

FYI: the IP is reachable when i browse on the same device in browser

It's not possible to securely connect to an ODK Central server via IP. You have to use the domain name.

But since it's via a vpn tunnel , the network is secured
any possibility considering security being handled at network level?
