Creating a form that is filled in by photographing the forms

Hello,
I have been advised that this data collection tool is the best available and have bought a tablet and downloaded ODK already. I need to create a form that I can then fill in by photographing completed historic forms. I thought this would be impossible but have been told I can do it on ODK but I have no idea where to start?
thankyou for any guidance you are able to give me on this issue!

Start with the user documentation: https://opendatakit.org/

And how to specify a survey in XLSX format: http://xlsform.org/

i.e., you can define a form with image-capture prompts:

Are you looking to photograph a form and have optical character
recognition put the values from the photograph into specific fields in
an electronic form? In that case, no, ODK collect does not do OCR. You
can, like Mitch said, have one data field contain the entire image of
a photographed historic form.

And in case you need some kind of OCR...

ODK Scan can do OCR, but it's not production ready. See
https://opendatakit.org/use/2_0_tools/older-versions/february-2015-rev-126/odk-scan-2-0-rev126
for more A more turnkey option is to use a service like Captricity
(http://captricity.com).
