Data Recovery in ODK Aggregate

Dear
ODK community,

We've been using
an
ODK Aggregate data collection server (Tomcat/MySQL install) that we've been
running for more than a year now.

In order to deal with any potential security issues,
we
thought
we should
upgrade / reload the latest versions of MySQL, Tomcat, and ODK Aggregate.

Although the server is
up and
running again and have managed to import all the of the data back into the
odk_prod schema in MySQL, the data isn't showing up when I log into ODK
Aggregate.

Can you advise
us
or point
us
at
any resources/
details that explain how I do a data recovery in ODK Aggregate
 from a previous server backup
?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Elona,

Are there any errors in your tomcat logs? It may be as simple as forgetting
to download and copy the MySQL Connector/J into the Tomcat libs directory.

··· -------------

The in-place upgrade steps are described in our release notes:
https://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AggregateReleaseNotes

In general, we only test upgrades from the previous release.

Because of this, we recommend that you update to each ODK Aggregate version
in sequence, verifying that you can log into the webserver and navigate
across all tabs ( Submissions, Form Management, Site Admin ).

If you are going to do a wholesale clean re-install, we recommend using ODK
Briefcase to pull the forms and data down from your server (before
upgrade), then wipe and upgrade the server, then use ODK Briefcase to push
the forms and data back up to the server. ODK Briefcase is our data
archiving and recovery tool.

During the upgrade process, you can disable submissions to your server from
the Forms Management screen. This will prevent data from being missed when
publishing, etc. as the publishers are re-established, etc.
