Date and Time Filters in ODK Briefcase and Aggregate

There is no way to filter what is downloaded to ODK Briefcase -- it grabs
everything.
Nor is there a way to filter what gets exported from ODK Briefcase.

W.r.t. date and time filters in ODK Aggregate. It recognizes a number of
different date formats:

*These formats assume UTC (GMT) times:

··· * 2012-04-23 2012-04-23T23:02:33.000

and the more US-centric:

Mon Apr 23 23:02:33 2012
04/23/2012 23:02:33.000

*These formats allow you to specify a timezone:
*
2012-04-23T23:02:33.000PDT
2012-04-23PDT

and the more US-centric:

Mon, 23 Apr 2012 23:02:33 PDT
Monday, 23-Apr-2012 23:02:33 PDT
Mon Apr 23 23:02:33 PDT 2012

Filters with timezones are converted to UTC (GMT) and compared against the
values stored in Aggregate, which are always stored as UTC (GMT).

Time values can be entered using these formats:

23:02:33.000
23:02:33.000PDT

I haven't tried filtering on time (it would be for a time field type), so I
am uncertain exactly how that would work.

Hi,

Is there any way to filter what gets downloaded into ODK Briefcase or
filter what is exported out of Briefcase?

Also, I have been trying in Aggregate to filter my records based on the
collect date. Every time I try to "Apply Filter" it looks like the page
refreshes and my filter is not applied. I'm able to filter based on other
columns successfully. Perhaps the date format I am using is wrong (ex:
12-Jul-2012)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dana

Hi guys,

do we have any update on filtering within aggregate? Thanks.

Yes, you can filter what gets exported to CSV if you use the Briefcase
CLI. https://opendatakit.org/use/briefcase/

The filters will once again work when the next ODK Aggregate gets released.
Probably not until I am back from a vacation -- toward the end of March.

Hey @yanokwa,

I have looked through the Briefcase documentation on CLI but I don't seem to find how to apply a filter to the pull process. Please help.

Thanks for reading the docs! You can't filter on the pull, you can only filter on export.
