Default Value for Skipped Question

Hi!

I do not know if it is possible but I am now trying to find the way to give the default value (numeric) for the skipped questions. Is there any possibility to do it? And if there is, could you please give me the guide with syntax? Your kindly responses are highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi? I have considered how to do what you asked.

  1. Delete the other specify columns that are blank when data is exported.
    You don't need such columns

You can assign defaults when you build the form, but you can't assign them
dynamically (e.g., on skip). If you explain the high level problem you
are trying to solve, perhaps we can suggest other approaches.

Thank you Yaw for your response! I think I have found my way to fix it.

Can you share the proposed solution? I've toyed with the idea of building
in defaults for questions skipped using a "pre-question" to give raw data a
more accurate reflection for less experienced users/analysts.

For example, if you are asking about assets and you have the following
questions:

*A1: Do you have livestock in your household (if no skip to B1). *

A2: How many pigs?

A3: How many cows?

*A4: How many dragons? *

*B1: Do you have transportation assets? *

If the respondent says 'no' for A1, the implied value for A2 through A4 is
"0" but in the data it appears as system missing. It would be nice to have
these auto fill as '0' when skipped as a result of a 'no' response to A1.
This give a more accurate reflection of responses users/analysts/program
staff who do not know how to treat the system missing appropriately.

Sorry for late reply! My way did not work. I am now trying to figure it out.
