We’re working on two new features in Central to make it easier to safely clean up Entity Lists and Properties.
The first is Entity List deletion:
You’ll be able to delete an Entity List, but only if it’s not referenced by any Forms. If there are linked Forms, Central will show you a dropdown of which ones need to be unlinked first. Deletion is permanent, however you’ll still be able to download the data from the trash.
The second feature is Property deletion:
Properties can only be deleted once their values have been cleared from all Entities and once they’ve been unlinked from any Forms that set them. Unlike lists, Properties won’t have a restore option — we expect this feature to mainly support cleaning up unused test Properties, while ensuring that more complex deletions require a bit more thought and coordination.
We’d love to hear your thoughts — does this approach match the kinds of cleanup you’ve wanted to do in Central?
I'm sure this will be welcomed by others, I certainly look forward to deleting lists like
my list
my list2
my list2a
my list final
my list final2
my list definitely final
And also removing properties in those lists that have become orphaned / unused due to changes in project design / needs will be great, I have plenty of these too!
Being able to adapt existing entity lists to remove (as well as already being able to add) properties will be very welcome - sometimes I have found that a property that seemed to be essential during development and testing is actually redundant or superseded. I may have also mis-spelt a property in my time, so being able hide my blushes without needing re-create a list would be welcome too.
And actually removing lists that were created for testing purposes is very welcome!
So that level of control is very much what I was hoping for.
Also having the ‘cross-check’ that the list and properties are unused / unlinked is very helpful to avoid inadvertent issues…
That will be an excellent feature addition. I have the very same observation that @seewhy has – create a property during development and then realize that it is no longer needed!
