Export labels with the CSV file

Hello,

I would like to know how I can export the label along with the variable
names on a csv file and stata? This would save time from labelling all the
variables one by one on again. I found a 2012 thread on this topic but
could not find any resolution. I would be very thankful if anyone could hep
with this

Thanks,
Rubana

This depends on the server you are using, which server are u using (online
or offline?)

Hi Edwin,
I am using an online server. I tried the odkmeta command that Yaw mentioned
below, but cannot make it work. Do you have any sugestions?

Hi Yaw,

I have tried using the odkmeta command:

odkmeta using import.do, csv("ODKexample.csv")
survey("survey.csv",name(name)) choices("choices.csv",name(name))

But got error messages as below:

column header label not found

invalid label() suboption

invalid survey() option

Hi Rubana,

If you have questions about odkmeta, submit a GitHub issue at
https://github.com/PovertyAction/odkmeta/issues or e-mail
researchsupport@poverty-action.org.

Also, please understand that support on this list is provided by
volunteers working in their free time. If you'd like help, you need to
provide a lot more information so the person who is trying to help you
can try to replicate the issue.

All this to say, when you post "I am using an online server...but
cannot make it work" to Edwin, you've made Edwin's task impossible.

What is the name of the online server? What specific steps did you
take? What specific error messages did you get? What did you do
yourself to try to solve the problem? What were the results of those
things you tried?

I understand that it's hard to know what level of detail to provide,
but my advice is to provide enough detail that a clever five year old
could replicate your problem. If you can do that, you'll get help a
lot faster

Hi Rubana,

Thank you for understanding.

What server are you using (e.g., Aggregate, SurveyCTO, Ona)?

I am using Aggregate on a private server. I have written to poverty action
about getting the error message on running the odkmeta command and awaiting
their response.

Hi Rubana,

It sounds like you are on the right track!

Once you have the CSV from ODK Aggregate, using odkmeta is the best
way to get data into Stata. Hopefully, the folks at IPA will be able
to help you use their tool.
