French prompts?

Hello

I have created a survey in French that works in ODK Collect using xls2xform.

What is the best method to change the ODK Collect prompts to French?
For example can I set "Fill Blank Form" to be displayed in French?

Bert

Bert,

That requires localizing the application. In the source, under
res/values-fr/strings.xml, you can translate all the English text in
the application to French. When you switch the phone's locale to
French, then it will show all the French text.

has more information. Note that this is different than changing the
language in the form -- you can do that without touching the source
code of the application itself.

In Collect 1.1.7, we do not have any translations. We've been working
on a crowd-sourced way to add more languages to the next version of
Collect. That effort has been going well. Thanks to Curtis Broderick
and EpiCollect, you can see we have French finished at
http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/source/browse/res/values-fr/strings.xml?repo=collect
so that might help as a starting point. Someone in the community may
also have a French version of 1.1.7 that they are willing to share.

If you or others would like to join the crowd-sourced translation
effort, send me an email. We have Lithuanian, Portuguese, Spanish,
Norwegian, and French, but we'd love to get more languages added.

Merci,

Yaw

Dear Yaw Anokwa
I attach strings.xml file that contain translation of Vietnamese. Please review and include it in the next release version of ODK collect. I'll volunteer to check it.

Quang,

I've checked your translations into
http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/source/browse/res/values-vi/strings.xml?repo=collect.

Unfortunately, your translations are a bit out of date, so I've
invited you (via your personal email) to the online service we use to
manage translations. Once you accept that invite, you'll be assigned
to do Vietnamese translation and all your changes will automatically
be included in the release.

Thanks so much for the translations and if others want to contribute
translations, please email me. So far, we have French, Italian,
Kiswahili, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
