Getting started on ODK

Hello community:

I am trying to publish an xls file to formhub and I keep getting this
reponse: In strict mode, the XForm ID must be a valid slug and contain no
spaces.

What does this mean and how can I correct it?

Thanks, elizabeth

Elizabeth,

If you have a question about formhub it's best to email formhub's
mailing list https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/formhub-users

Since I do not use formhub I am not sure of the answer, however, if I
remember correctly (which I may not be remembering correctly) formhub
uses your xls file name as your Xform ID. An alternative proposal was
put forward by the formhub developers to use the worksheet name
instead of the file name so I am not sure which one they are currently
using. Therefore if you improve your file name and/or your worksheet
name it may solve your problem with form id. Again trying to be
helpful and I may be wrong as this is only a guess. If others know the
answer please chime in.

Cheers,
Waylon

Hi Elizabeth,

Use an underscore in-between words for anything under the name column, that
is for both the Survey and Choices sheets... Don't use spaces... For
example, instead of "My Sample Form" use "My_Sample_Form". Also, avoid
using dots in that column, use underscores.

Hope that helps.

I can send you some excel sheets I have used.

Hello everybody,
I am at the very begining with learing ODK, thus i was wondering if any of you knows a kind of manual I can work with.
I am currently using a exl file from another survey and try to understand the command. However, of course, a manual would save me hours of work and energy.

Thank you very much for any advice you could give me!!

I suggest that you fill in the form_id and form_title with appropriate
values to prevent formhub from using your spreadsheet's filename as default
(as is the case, when these are not set).

These are set in the "settings" worksheet
