GSM signal strength

Hi,

We are about to embark in pretty large scale infrastructure survey in
Nigeria using ODK.

One of the things we'd love to get an accurate reading on is the GSM
strength at the location of our infrastructure points. It would be great to
see what operator networks are picked up.

We can do this manually I realize. Has anyone thought of adding this as a
question type in ODK? Does Android expose this info in their apis?

Thanks,

Matt

our work on external sensors will eventually support this usecase, but
for now, we've been recommending using the antennas app. it uses a
background service to record cell ids and signal strength and save
that out as a csv or kml file.
