Hardware question: ODK on Bebook touch

Hi,

I own a Bebook touch, which is an e-reader running android. To me this
seems to be a solid contender to become a data collection device. Sure, I
can't collect Geo-data or photos, but I can get around that, and the
battery life and ability to read the screen in direct sunlight make up for
a lot.

However: in the google play store it says my device/android version is not
compatible with ODK collect. Does any one know any way to get around this,
or can I simply not run ODK on this device?

I am having some trouble figuring out what version the device runs, but it
can't be ancient.

Koen

Have you tried side-loading the app? Check your device to make sure that
you're setting for installing third-party apps are enabled.

Download the ODK Collect APK from the
repohttp://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/downloads/detail?name=ODK%20Collect%20v1.2.2%20rev%201023.apk&can=2&q=
.

ODK Collect 1.2.2 requires Android 2.1 or above.

ODK Collect 1.1.7 should work on everything Android 1.6 and above.

Koen,
Hey that's cool. Do you have any pictures to share? I did that with the
Barns & Noble Nook e-reader. See results
herehttps://sites.google.com/a/epiconcept.fr/odk/afritablet.
I found side-loading as the prefered method to get the apk on the device
(so long as you have a file navigator to get to the application to launch
it of course) since the e-book reader was designed to be a reader and not a
general purpose Android device. You might find some particularities like I
did as well (cannot enter the decimal point into a decimal variable field
with stock virtual keyboard).
