Help - Printing the XML form or convering XML to PDF

Dear friends,

I would be very happy to have a hard copy of the form created using formhub
OR xls to xml conversion in ODK. It is time saving and convenient if one
can get the form printed or exported to PDF in the same view as that
rendered in ODK Collect. This is very much required to keep a hard copy in
my thesis work as an annexure.
Thanks.

Regards,
Mano

Hi Mano,
We don't have a tool that will generate a PDF for you, but it is possible
to make one manually. You could use the Android SDK tools to take
screenshots of all your survey questions in Collect then combine the images
in your preferred PDF editor.

-Nathan

Manoj,

Its by no means perfect but try clicking on the web forms view in formhub
and printing that. A latex form generator from xlsforms is something we
have been considering building as a lot of people have expressed a similar
need.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi there,
I'm having the same problem. I need (quite urgently) a hard copy for matters of discussing the questionnaire in the formation process of interviewers. Unfortunately the simple print version delievers only a small proportion of the questions while cutting off most of my questionnaire. (This is even when I undo all "field-list" commands.)
Any help?
Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

Thanks Nathan and Matt.

Will try the screen captures for now. Rather, I may have to make my form
separately in Word for attaching to my dissertation.
I hope the LaTeX based XML to PDF conversion works out sooner than later.
I searched over the net for any clue, found thishttp://www.elml.org/website/en/html/output_xslfo.htmlBut it was too complex for me, as I'm new to LaTeX. Can you confirm, if the
said method works? I'll try to begin learning LaTeX for its worth.

Hi Jonathan,

Try http://opendatakit.org/2013/06/task-force-and-nafundi-release-codebook-generator-for-odk/.

Another option -- on some Android tablets, there may be a screen capture
program available. My Samsung Galaxy Tab (Android 3.0) shipped with one.
It would save you the hassle of setting up the Android SDK and running it
within an emulator on your PC.

The best tool for phones and tablets is DDMS which comes with the
Android SDK, connects to your device, and allows you to capture the
screen at any point while the device is operating. No need to run it
in emulator mode. DDMS is in the tools folder in the SDK.
