I have set several constraints on some fields, the problem is that a toast
is shown but the appropriate field is not highlighted in red, any
suggestion of how i can change the color of the field which has the error?

Not in the 1.0 generation of tools. I think it's possible in the 2.0
generation. See http://opendatakit.org/use/2_0_tools/ if you want to
try them out.

With the 1.x tools, you *can *customize the error message text (but not the
color), so that the text identifies the question that failed the
constraint.
This is very important when you have multiple questions on one screen. In
the XML, specify jr:constraintMsg="..." as a bind attribute.
In XLS, specify the message in the 'constraint_message' column. The same
customization is available for relevant messages (same naming applies)
