How to default an answer option in the XLSForms data dictionary

Hello,

I am using ODK Collect v1.2.2 on an Asus Transformer Pad TF300T tablet
with Android v4.1.1. For ODK, I am using XLSForms to build my data
dictionary. I have a "form version" variable that is of the "select one"
variable type. I want to default the form version response so that the data
collector does not accidentally select the wrong form version. Is there a
way to do this in XLSForms? Also, are we able to make this type of field
invisible to the data collector?

Thank you,

Jacqueline Fiore

You can use a calculate field to set a value without showing it to the
user. http://opendatakit.org/help/form-design/xlsform/

In this case, the calculate would be in place of the select one, so that
the user never sees the form version.

Note that ODK Aggregate has a version, defined on the settings page, under
the version column, to manage revisions to forms (e.g., correcting typos,
etc. in prompts).
