Image markup: Ability to set default pen colour

1. What is the general goal of the feature?
Increase speed of markup for enumerator by having a global/project default pen colour (Stretch goal would be a quick standard colour selector, transparent highlight option, ability to add line/rect/circ/arrow/text.)

Currently the default black pen is almost always not the preferred colour and changing it is a five step process for every image (select markup menu/select set colour/select hue/select saturation/select OK) that often takes longer than the markup

In comparison, Enketo has a quick colour picker with 13 options

2. What are some example use cases for this feature?
B&W drawing markups with black pen isn't immediately obvious vs a 'redline'

When annotating a photo, black is often lost in areas that aren't very light, vs a bright solid colour.

3. What can you contribute to making this feature a reality?
Testing and feedback
Potentially funding depending on cost and if I can get a budget approval for it

Indeed, that is very annoying.

A small improvement we propose for the next Collect release is to default to the last picked color instead of black. This would be an app-wide default used for all annotation and draw questions. If a user picks red as their annotation color, that would be the pen color for all annotation or draw questions opened until they explicitly change the pen color again. How does that sound?

Longer-term it would be good to repurpose the color picker we use for the project icon for this context:

That would be perfect. Setting it once (eg for me usually red is highly visible) and it staying that colour would work great

v2022.2 Beta 1 is rolling out and should include defaulting to the last used color. Please try it out and let us know what you think!
