Is there an easy way to insert a variable in the begining or middle of a
large form? The only way I know of is to insert at the end of the form
and then move them up but it is such a pain when you work with a large form.

That's one reason we recommend XLSForm for larger surveys.
It is much easier to rearrange and modify the survey when it is an Excel
worksheet.
