Hello everyone
I'm Yoland from University of Buea, Cameroon. I'm New using this tools and i wish to contribute to the documentation part of ODK
Hi Yoland,
You are most welcome and good having you here.
For sure you gonna have it just as exciting as you can imagine.
May be you want to start with this
Hello All,
I'm John, based in Lagos, Nigeria, I'm a Health Informatics enthusiast, I have a Bachelors Degree in Physiology, Masters Degree in Information Technology and Masters degree in Public Health(InView) - Hopefully I become a Health Information Specialist someday
I work as a Software Developer for an NGO in Nigeria(Kano) which basically helps in disease surveillance projects and tracking of health related spacial field works for Countries, States/Provinces and International organizations - We helped in containing the Ebola spread in Nigeria which was a huge success and also for other African countries such as Sierra Leone
We use ODK to collect field data during our surveillance projects and field works, and I am currently working on improving the loading time of large xForms.
I also work on openMRS in my free time and also know about HL7 Health information Data exchange standards and Electronic Medical Records.
I love listening to different kinds of Music and enjoy originality and diversity
Hi everyone,
I am Tim Howard, I work for a non-profit in upstate New York, USA. We use a variety of different tools for collecting biological information on tablets and phones in the field and hope that ODK-X might work as our 'next generation' data collection tool. I am looking forward to learning about the system.
Hi, I'm Manisha, a university professor in Canada doing health research. We're conducting a cross-sectional survey with partners in Ethiopia and have used ODK successfully in the past. We've run into some issues in our current round of data collection and I'm hoping to get some advice on troubleshooting.
Hello everyone,
I am a french Geologist/Geomatician working in research center.
I was looking for a mobile application to collect geological data on the field.
I suscribed to this forum to gather some information on ODK tools (v1). And get some help when I will encounter some issue that I won't be able to solve myself.
Hello everyone,
I've been using ODK now for a few years on health related research projects at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) with @dr_michaelmarks and @chrissyhroberts. The forum has always been a useful resource and look forward to future developments and sharing my experience.
best,
Sham
Hello everyone,
Wow, it is great to see such a diverse community here. I am Tara, currently an ecologist with WWF India. We are planning a simultaneous ecological and social survey in the trans Himalayan landscape to understand the nature and extent of human wildlife conflict. This project led me to explore the various ways we could painlessly collect on ground data.
A traditional ecological sign survey would use a handheld GPS unit and a paper datsheet , but we hope to train local people and send them independently on to field. A smartphone is surprisingly, quite common , even in rural areas and is less intimidating than a GPS unit. At first glance, ODK seems to be able to handle the basic info we will be collecting. The only issue is with on ground navigation, We need data collectors to be able to visualise their current position on a custom map (a contour map overlaid with grids which is already developed in QGIS) and be able to view completed tracks. I am unsure of how to implement this functionality or whether it can even be implemented. I'll be hanging around here until I can figure that out. Any help, or nudges in the right direction will be highly appreciated.
good to meet you all,
Cheers,
Tara
Heyo
I'm Callum Stott. I'm a Software Engineer based in London, UK. I've been working on and off on small contributions for Collect but will soon be focusing more of my time on the product!
I come from a software engineering consultancy background so have worked across many different web and mobile technologies (Ruby, Java and Kotlin based mainly) but I've personally always liked focusing on Android development. I ended up getting involved with Collect through my work on Pivotal Act last year.
My website links to all my important (and not so important) online presences.
Hope to see y'all around!
Hi! Apologies for not introducing myself in the first message. I'm a medical doctor, PhD student, working in a public health project in Papua New Guinea. We are now doing a population census in our area and we are using ODK for the survey.
Thank you @danbjoseph for the solution proposed. We will try to do this and see if it works.
Salut,
Je suis Gaétan et je suis basé à Cotonou au Bénin en Afrique de l'Ouest. Je serai ravi de travailler avec vous.
Hi, everyone, I am happy to join a new world, never too big, never too small. I am now in Hamburg, Germany, but I am originally from Brazil.
I am a soil digger, an agronomist and environmentalist, a nature lover that found it's way to digging more languages and surfaces than outdoors because of wanting to bring technology into the hands of normal users, to make their life easier and faster work.
I worked with data management in corporate world until I gave up all to work for farmers and for nature. Now I am part of a team that developed and application for farmers to collect their practices and assess their impact on environment.
I am new to the world of API's, publishing, html, UX, etc... so before you can follow me, let me find myself within this wonderworld.(not under, but WONDER, from wonderful).
I used to be all about socializing through food and drinks and connect with nature through travels. I loved to please people with hosting big cookouts, I love to ponder on the wonders of the world and the magnitude of our existence by traveling.
Today, I am socializing with different web languages through the world, traveling through work and spreading the word of nature through networking. In the end, it is all about learning. I am learning to live and be a better person daily. Although everyone has their own code, I hope we can keep being updated with new features and release ourselves into better versions.
I appreciate any help as I am walking though baby-steps and have little time for reading and digging as much as I dig soil
Hi everyone,
I'm based at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine working in public health research in mainly LMICs, and have started using ODK for data collection. On these projects, I often work with collaborators to build capacity in all aspects of research, and using the ODK platform is an area in which many of them have expressed great interest.
Regards,
Ben Palafox
Hello friends! I am Debjit Biswas! I am from India and work for the Market Research Industry. Obviously, ODK projects are of great interest to me, and I follow them for many years now. I am good with form building and have been using ODK Collect for a long time now. Thank you everyone for creating a wonderful package like this.
Best wishes
Hello everyone,
I'm from Benin and have just finished my bachelor degree in statistics.
I started contributing to ODK Collect's source code some years ago.
I use it to collect data during survey with my friends.
But I'm now because I'm facing some difficulties.
in fact, we are going to collect data but we're far from each other. and then, to get all the forms early I'd like to set up an ODK server; the most simple as possible.
I decided to have VIRTUALBOX's one which need ODK Aggregate VM. but when I downloaded it, it's just a text file I get.
So to be helped and to give help as possible, I join this best Community.
Thank you all
Hello everyone,
I am Salu Singh from Nepal. I have been working as a development practitioner since 2017 after my graduation. I worked in a research institute that used to conduct monitoring, evaluation and learning activities for different NGOs, INGOs and government offices in the country. During my tenure as a research associate, I came across the use of ODK, digital data collection. My interest in ODK is only growing more with my involvement in different projects, their evaluations and other studies.
I am hoping to learn more ideas in using ODK more effectively and efficiently.
