Introduce yourself here!

Hi open-source software friends!

I’m Mick Santos, based between The Netherlands (Groningen) & Portugal (Sintra). I work in the field of ecosystem restoration and the only thing I hunt after, is accessible tools for monitoring socio-ecological indicators. I came across ODK some 4 years ago and immediately became a huge fan of its versatility and potential. Have been using it to build forms for the www.erc.earth network, and am now keen to develop more ‘independent’ MEL services combining ODK, QGIS, MySQL, PowerBI, etc.

Fun fact: I always ran away from programming or GIS-related courseload at uni, and I now want to deepen my skills precisely in those areas... In case that’s not fun enough, I once crashed & fell from a mountainbike, nearly dying, going down a gentle slope on the most mountainless country that is The Netherlands.

Excited to connect through LI as well

Hello everyone,

Hi All! Reintroducing myself here!

I’m based in Washington State in the USA.

I used ODK quite a bit years and years ago for geospatial data collection. This was especially around OpenStreetMap. I’ve returned because I’m working on a project to collect ancestral stories.

You can find me on Github and at Untangling Systems.

Outside of data collection I raise dairy goats and show them competitively. I like to call it “competitive goating.”

Hello everyone!

My name is Fabian and I'm from Germany, where I work as a software developer for EFTAS. We at EFTAS have been supporting field work and organising surveys for many years (e.g. in the areas of biodiversity and agricultural monitoring). After relying on ODK for some of our projects, we would be happy to give something back to the community and use our experience in Android development to contribute to ODK Collect.

Looking forward to engaging with you all!
Fabian

@LN asked me to introduce myself, so here it is.

I am based in the US but most of my work in the last 20 years has been in West Africa. I am currently working with a local organisation there that has used Kobocollect and toolbox in the past so this was my introduction to ODK. We needed more fonctionnalité, as in the ability to pull data from one survey into another, so the entity feature was essential. Right now, we will be using ODK to survey individual women in 18 rural municipalities in Western Mali, covering over 100 villages or so. The surveying is done at 3 levels: village, groups/associations, individuals. The entity feature allows us to connect all 3 levels within the survey system. You can learn more about the organisation and its involvement with women’s groups here https://www.camide.org/

Hello everyone,

I am Jiayu and I am based in Basel. @Thalie invited me to join the ODK community. I am currently working on visualising ODK XLSForms as interactive HTML files - a diagram of the entire survey that helps designers trace what a respondent actually sees, especially when skip logic, nested groups, and calculated fields interact. An example is available here, and you can also find me on GitHub.

Looking forward to exchanging ideas with everyone .

Hi there !

I am Florian, I am based in Montpellier. I came on this forum for the needs of a survey that aims to study households' food procurement practices and how they combine with travel/displacements related to their other activities.

I am a big fan of rock climbing, which is very cool to do in the south of France

See you on topics !

Hello everyone!

I’m Isaac, based in Douala, Cameroon.

I discovered the ODK community while exploring a link داخل ODK Central, and it immediately caught my interest.

In terms of experience, I have been involved in several ODK projects within a corporate environment. Notably, I worked as a project lead on a data collection initiative for delivery points using ODK at ENEO, an electricity company in Cameroon.

You can also follow me on TikTok where I share content:

Outside of data collection, I enjoy learning about digital tools, improving my professional skills, and creating content to share knowledge.

Fun fact: I’m passionate about using digital solutions like ODK to solve real-world operational challenges and improve efficiency in organizations.

Looking forward to connecting with you all!

Gracias
