Introducing formhub

Dear ODKers,

We just wanted to let you know about the beta release of a new service
called formhub that, our lab the Modi Research Group at Columbia
University, has been working on.

http://formhub.org

Our goal with formhub is to provide a free hosted data backend service for
ODK Collect for those who don't want to setup or manage their own server.
We've incorporated the XLS2XForm library directly into formhub. This
allows you to upload an xls into formhub and then be deployed directly to
your phone. We also provide a nice excel/csv export that provides support
for things like repeats and some very basic mapping visualizations. We are
also working on incorporating the idea of form sharing (via xls files) into
formhub. This is an idea we are really excited about.

formhub is very much a work in progress but we feel the underlying data
handling code is pretty sound having handled over 40,000+ form submissions.

The underlying code is python/django and is available under and opensource
license if you want to deploy an instance yourself.

For more details about the formhub release and our future plans please
checkout:

We hope you find this service helpful and a useful part of the wonderful
ODK ecosystem.

Thank you,

The Modi Research Group

this is awesome, matt!

we love all the innovation happening around the platform and anything
that makes data collection easier is a win. can't wait to see what you
guys come up with next.

Matt,

This looks very cool. Can you say specifically which opensource
license you are using for this project?

Thanks!

Great question. I think we forgot somehow to add the license. About 90%
it's BSD but want to confirm with the team and will get back ASAP. Will
either be BSD or Apache. Will email you David when we confirm.

Thanks,

Matt
