Issue with publishing data in ODK Aggregate into Google Spreadsheet

Dear All,

I am Ramprasad V (https://in.linkedin.com/in/ramprasad07), working with BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods and Development (BISLD), which is a part of BAIF Development Research Foundation (http://www.baif.org.in/) in Pune, India.

I am not able to publish the data in my ODK aggregate to Google spreadsheet using the instructions specified at https://opendatakit.org/use/aggregate/oauth2-service-account/. The "Simple API Access Key" and "Google OAuth2 Credentials" have been updated successfully. When I click on Publish in ODK Aggregate, the Google spreadsheet doesn't get published on my Google Drive, however, no error is displayed. I also do not receive any email in my Gmail account regarding my creation/ownership of Google spreadsheet.

I had not faced this problem earlier for other ODK Aggregate servers from which I had published several other Google spreadsheets. This seems to be a relatively new problem (say a few days/weeks old).

I request your kind help.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,
Ramprasad

If you go to the "Form Management" tab and the "Published Data" subtab you
should be able to see the status of your publisher.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your reply. I did check the "Published Data" in "Form Management" tab. The "Status" is "ACTIVE", "Published through" is blank. "Name" is "Not yet created". However, no spreadsheet has been created in Google Drive of the corresponding account. I have attached the screenshot. I request you to please let me know what to do. I request your kind help.

Dear Sir,

Yeah, it did work. I went ahead with the same account
(ramprasad07@gmail.com), however, I randomly kept trying 2-3 times. Once I
selected "Upload Existing Submission Data ONLY" among the various
publishing options in the drop-down list and the spreadsheet got published.
Then I again tried "BOTH Upload Existing & Stream New Submission Data",
surprising this also got published. Please see the attached figure which
explains what I am saying. Then, I tried with another Aggregate ID, I
noticed that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have still not
figured out why it behaves this way.

Thanking you,

Note that 1.4.13 requires the Google Sheets API, which was not required in
1.4.12 and earlier.

Note that you need to enable this for each of your appspot instances (each
project / application ID).

Because you were having issues where it worked on some but not all of your
appspot instances, and if they are all running at 1.4.13, this would
indicate that perhaps this permission has not been granted on those appspot
instances where it is failing.

Also, are any of these appspot instances running under a Google Apps
domain? (something you specify when you configure them)
Those that are will likely not be able to publish to Sheets, as Google has
never fully supported this functionality from within a Google Apps domain.

If after verifying this, you still have problems with an appspot instance,
it would be helpful for me to look at and manipulate that instance. If that
is possible, please invite me ( mitchellsundt@gmail.com ) as a developer or
Owner on Google Cloud Platform for that instance (
https://github.com/opendatakit/opendatakit/wiki/Aggregate-AppEngine-Troubleshooting#inviting-someone-to-be-a-developer

I will also need a username and login with Site Admin permissions in order

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your reply.

  1. You mean to say that I won't be able to publish to Sheets with appspot
instances created with Google Apps / G Suite accounts. Thank you for the
clarification as I had planned to try this functionality with an appspot
instance created with a G Suite account.

  2. Luckily, I tried it out with an appspot instance created using a

work out I will contact you directly on mitchellsundt@gmail.com.

Thanks a lot,

Hello,

I've got exactly the same problem as Ramprasad had: when I choose "BOTH Upload existing and Stream New Submissions Data" publishing doesn't work. The publishing job just hangs there in ACTIVE state without email notifications and spreadsheets created. Though, when I choose only Upload or only Stream, they work as expected.

Configuration:
AWS t2.micro (free tier)
CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 (Core) x86_64
tomcat-7.0.69-10
openjdk version "1.8.0_121"
ODK Aggregate v1.4.13 linux-x64

Are there any logs of publishing jobs?
