Linking answers to an automatic GPS point?

Hi

I would like to link the data from my ODK form to Google Earth. I understand that by using the GeoPoint they can record their locations in ODK. However, we work remotely and sometimes the signal strength might not be good enough.

But, we have other questions that ask about where activities took place which have defined GPS coordinates.

Is there any way to link an answer to an automatic GeoPoint within ODK?

Thanks

Fran

Hi Fran,

GPS does not need connectivity so cell/WiFi signal strength should
have no impact. You just need a clear view of the sky and a device
with true GPS (most do, but check).

There is no way to get automatic GPS coordinates (mostly because this
in practice is unreliable and would destroy battery life). If you want
to tie a coordinate with an answer, it has to be an explicit geopoint
question in the form.

Once you have that explicit question, when you export your form data
from ODK Aggregate as KMZ, it will open up Google Earth. Note that the
location that is plotted will be the first geopoint the form sees. If
you have multiple points in a single form, there is no easy way to
display that in Earth.
