My own odk aggregate server

the latest betas of odk aggregate 1.0 should run in any tomcat servlet
container. i haven't tested it in a shared hosting config, but it
should work. i've cc'ed the mailing list in case others have shared
hosting experience.

Hi all,
I ve install opendatakit on my own server.I am wondering why is so
different from the one which is online .We don't have the filter submission
and the exported submission.
We can't even submit forms to the server form a the emulator.we can't even
the uploaded data if we use the upload option on the web interface, only the
definition is shown.

If someone can can help by providing a way to have a the same feautures our
own server that would be nice a lot.

Thanks ,

I think something is wrong with the installation as Aggregate uses the
same code everywhere. If it is running correctly it should look almost
identical.

For clarity Aggregate is designed to separate the UI/functionality
from the platform it's running on. The UI should look the same when
running on all the supported platforms and all the same functionality
should be provided.

Thanks a lot it is running by now.But i am still have problem with it.
when i put the url for local connection it popops the error below:* error
Getting Form List - Form listing failed.http://10.0.2.2:8080/formList.*

I have already upload a form on my local server but it still doesn't work.

Please,Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Patrice.

What version of collect are you running? As the security settings of
Aggregate must be setup properly.

If you are running 1.1.5 you must authorize anonymousUser as data
collector. This will disable the authentication requirements of
Aggregate when it comes to serving form lists and accepting
submissions.

If you are running 1.1.7 you can either enter credentials and
authenticated login or authorize anonymousUser as a data collecter.

Additionally I am not sure whether the ODK team has tested
authentication working from the emulator, so you might just want to
authorize anonymousUser.

hi patrice,

that error message isn't from the crash, but from eclipse trying to
open a class file. dunno how you got there, but try this instead.

use ddms (http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/debugging/ddms.html)
to view the logs. run the app normally (no need for debug mode) to
reproduce the crash. if you filter by error (the red e), you'll see stack
trace with the bug. wherever line it says the problem is, that's where
you should start looking.

my guess is that you may not have an sd card installed or available. i
think we catch those kinds of errors (and others) better in 1.1.7, so
i'd recommend you try using trunk/1.1.7 if you can.

It should be noted that i have installed all the necessary plug-ins(GWT,

Note that you need to:

(1) using Mercurial, be sure to update to either the v1_0 branch or the
uiexperiment branch to access the ODK Aggregate 1.0 code tree.
Otherwise you would be working with the 0.9.x tree.
(2) then, follow the directions in the CONFIGURE.txt for building v1_0. The
link you've referenced is for setting up 0.9.x.

If you are using the 1.0 code tree, it is likely that you did not run the
Ant Build on the odk-gae-settings project, and, after that is complete, be
sure to Refresh the eclipse-aggregate-gae project ( you are probably missing
the war/WEB-INF/lib/odk-gae-settings-latest.jar )

OK Mitch,
I will try but i still have some problem with my cloned repository under
Mercurial .I don't know why it give " .i "extension to many of my files:
png ,psd jpg, java.properties ,etc....Almost every files.
I know it is not an ODK issue, however if you can give me an idea it should
be great.

The link you've referenced is for setting up 0.9.x.

If you are using the 1.0 code tree, it is likely that you did not run the
Ant Build on the odk-gae-settings project, and, after that is complete, be
sure to Refresh the eclipse-aggregate-gae project ( you are probably missing
the war/WEB-INF/lib/odk-gae-settings-latest.jar )

hi patrice,

that error message isn't from the crash, but from eclipse trying to
open a class file. dunno how you got there, but try this instead.

use ddms (
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/debugging/ddms.html)
to view the logs. run the app normally (no need for debug mode) to
reproduce the crash. if you filter by error (the red e), you'll see
stack
trace with the bug. wherever line it says the problem is, that's where
you should start looking.

my guess is that you may not have an sd card installed or available. i
think we catch those kinds of errors (and others) better in 1.1.7, so
i'd recommend you try using trunk/1.1.7 if you can.

You're browsing into the "store" of the local copy of the Mercurial
repository. The "store" for the local copy is under the .hg directory. You
should ignore that directory and generally leave it alone, as any changes to
it can corrupt your copy of the repository.

Details are here: http://hgbook.red-bean.com/read/behind-the-scenes.html
