I just found out about ODK today, and I would really appreciate if anyone
can give me answers to my questions :
Is it possible to deploy ODK Build (something like http://build.opendatakit.org) on local webserver ? (since I haven't found
any guide/tutorial on this)
What's the different between ODK and Kobootoolbox ? I noticed that both
ODKcollect and Kobocollect have similar user interface. are they developed
by the same organization/company ?
All ODK tools are free and open source so anyone can use and build on
them as you would like. Instructions for running Build locally are at
The KoboCollect app is based on a version of ODK Collect from a couple
of years ago. Because ODK Collect is also open source, different
organizations have built on the core and added improvements specific
to their own needs!

To add onto what Héléne has provided, there is a separate branch at
which provides premade scripts for deploying ODK Build via Ansible to a
remote Ubuntu Xenial server or to a local VM with Vagrant. We use these
same scripts to deploy and manage the main production instance at build.opendatakit.org, so we know they work well and we keep them updated.
There is also a native desktop version of ODK Build available at
in case you don't want to use the online version but you don't want to
bother with deploying an entire webserver.
Best,
Clint
