ODK Aggregate Server Problem with Amazon EC2

Dear all,

I am facing a problem with ODK Aggregate. My server has been warning by
Amazon about remote port scanning. It seem like ODK aggregate has a service
that in conflict with Amazon agreement.

Does anyone have the same problem? Can any one help me to figure with this?

Mitch or Chris would know for sure, but I don't think Aggregate does
any port scanning (maybe the publishers do? or maybe it does to find
the IP on startup?).

Is it possible your server has been compromised and that someone is
running a port scanner on it?

Yaw

We run lots of servers that share code with Aggregate and I think that we
even have a stock Aggregate instance or two running somewhere -- and we've
never heard of anything like this. I would also suspect that the server has
been compromised somehow (particularly it's a Windows server).

Sorry,

Chris

Ditto.

The code does not do this.

If you used a non-standard base image, it may have a cron job that does
port scanning against its own ports to detect open ports.

But I don't think this would be in violation of Amazon's usage agreements;
if it were, that would be rather ironic, as Amazon, when I worked there,
had a security cron job on every computer that ran every day to look for
unexpectedly open ports on itself and send security reports when they were
detected.
