ODK Briefcase Fail to pull data, and Aggregate Error "Problem persisting data or accessing data"

Hi there,

The ODK Briefcase shows "Fail" on Pull Status when pulling data from the
server since yesterday, before that it was always successful. It shows
"Fail" after fetching instances until "....fetching instance 52 ...
retrieving next chunk of instances from server...
FAILED."

I opened the Aggregate and saw an error "Error: Problem persisting data or
accessing data
(roster2@parentAuri(uuid:dd119aa7-447d-4dc0-8262-f4d2d409c5d9) is missing a
(repeat) group instance OR has an extra copy of one)"
The "roster2" is the name of a repeat group in the household roster.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pCkVkkFr_kA/VUjRjekyCMI/AAAAAAAAAAc/L4RmWLICtAQ/s1600/1.jpg
Then afterwards another error shows as below.

What could happen here and how to fix this? Hope someone could help on this
as soon as possible.

Thanks very much!

Best,
E

This indicates that there was a failure during a submission that led to a
corrupted submission row. Follow the steps detailed here:

https://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AppEngineTroubleshooting?ts=1430844803&updated=AppEngineTroubleshooting#Reparing_a_Filled-in_Form_Submission

To repair that submission.

Dear All,

I am also facing the error while pull data through ODK briefcase. Please see the enclosed error snap for more details. Kindly suggest the solution asap.

Hi Mitch,

Thanks. This solved one error (the error in the picture), but I wasn't able
to solve the other error ""Error: Problem persisting data or accessing data
(roster2@parentAuri(uuid:dd119aa7-447d-4dc0-8262-f4d2d409c5d9) is missing a
(repeat) group instance OR has an extra copy of one)" because I don't know
the exact query for this error. Any suggestions?

Best,
E

Dears

Hope you are fine. If i face tbis problem and intended to hire a developer how much time does it take to fix this problem. I will be very grateful for your information relating problems. In addition how can i hire what is the process thank you for your help.

I will release an ODK Aggregate v1.4.7 later today that will have a log
message that provides the needed information. There are about 4 places
where this less-informative log message was being displayed, and those will
be updated with a log message like I had described in the wiki. The wiki
is also slightly updated to account for some of the variations of the log
messages.

I would add that the likelihood of data corruption occurring is tied to the
quantity of form definitions on the server, the size of the individual
submissions, the number of devices simultaneously submitting data, and the
speed of the network.

Except for corruption caused by slow networks, you can reduce the
likelihood of this occurring by increasing the size of your server.

For App Engine, see

(While this is a known issue, there is no funding available to fix it at
this time).

I don't think you need a software developer. You need someone in IT
who can follow directions and is detail oriented.

The actual fix shouldn't take too long (maybe 30 min?), but doing it
properly requires a data backup and an Aggregate upgrade. Those last
two steps can take up a long time (days) depending on the size of your
data and your connection.

https://opendatakit.org/help/help-for-hire/ has a list of companies
and people who might be able to help.
