ODK Central v2026.1: Branded login pages, Entity List cleanups, and file uploads in Web Forms

What’s new

In ODK Central v2026.1 you can now customize the login page with your branding, clean up Entity Lists when they are no longer needed, and upload any file to your web form. We've also made it possible to create Entities directly from the UI.

:artist_palette: Customize branding and login pages
We’ve heard your feedback! You can now customize the login page with your own logo, hero image, and welcome message. Use it to orient new users, share helpful context with existing users, or make the experience feel more connected to your work.

:wastebasket: Deleting an Entity List
Entity Lists can be deleted if they are not currently used by any forms. Before deleting a list, it must first be unlinked from all forms that reference it. If a list is still linked, Central will show which forms need to be updated before deletion is allowed.

:wastebasket: Deleting an Entity Property
Entity Properties can be deleted when they are no longer needed. Before a Property can be deleted, all its values must be cleared and it must be removed from any forms that set it. If these conditions are not met, Central will show how many Entities and Forms still use the Property.

:magic_wand: Creating an Entity in the UI
Previously, Entities could only be created through form submissions or a CSV import. With this update, project managers can quickly add Entities without submitting a form.

:up_arrow: Upload files in Web Forms
You can now upload files like PDFs, images, videos, and audio files to your web form. Use this to allow respondents to share documents, provide visual evidence, or submit recordings as part of their responses.

How to get these improvements?

If you are using Central on ODK Cloud, we'll be rolling out these updates in the coming days. If you are self-hosting Central, follow the upgrade instructions.

See the Central installation documentation for information on configuring external storage.

What’s next

In our next release, you’ll be able to define App User properties to segment and assign Entity Lists, bulk delete Submissions, and opt into Web Forms from an updated Form Draft experience.
