Odk collect apk error

1. What is the issue? Please be detailed. please
I have downloaded the latest version of odk collect and i have installed it in my phone but when trying to open the app is showing this error (cannot start the app external file is null)please assist

reinstalling the app

  1. Can you try installing from the Google Play Store?
  2. Can you share the source of your APK download - that is, are you downloading from the official repository at https://github.com/getodk/collect/releases or from somewhere else?
  3. What is the phone make/model, and what version of Android are you running?

Hi @legacy
This is what we see in our crash reports but do not really understand the root cause. You are the first user reporting this issue (the reports I mentioned above are uploaded automatically) so it's a big chance for us to get more info. Please answer the questions @danbjoseph asked.
Do other apps work without any problems with the storage?
