I am currently working on a large-scale ODK deployment in the Middle East.
The enumerators have close to zero capacity in a language other than
arabic, and the use of ODK Collect is proving to be difficult (menu,
warning messages, options, etc.). Please note that I am not refering here
to the content of the forms, which are already translated in Arabic and
work well on the devices.
According to my research the Arabic translation is done for about 50% of
the strings right now. I have people on my team here who would be able to
translate the strings very quickly. How long do you think it could take,
realistically, to get the strings, translate them, and release the Arabic
version of ODK Collect? Who could I talk to to make this happen?
Releasing an official build with the Arabic version is another issue
and that has to happen when the core team is ready to push a release.
A new release of Collect is coming soon, but there is no ETA.
