ODK Collect Automatically save and exit

Hi,

I am using ODK in a clinical setting where patients will fill in their own details, and then using Zebra printers get their 'results'. Once they have reached the printer screen, it is not very intuitive to return to ODK collect and then swipe to the final 'Save form and exit' screen.

Is it possible to have forms in ODK collect automatically save and exit, without the user needing to swipe to the final screen?

Is it also possible to have a time-out period, where after a certain amount of time, the form will automatically save and then exit? For example, a patient does not reach the 'save form and exit' screen, and after 1 minute of no activity, ODK will automatically open at the home page?

Thanks!
Carina

Hi Carina,

Currently, ODK Collect cannot automatically save and exit without the
user initiating that action. We can certainly add that feature, but it
sounds like the problem is that the Zebra printer feature is not very
intuitive.

Can you please file an issue at
https://github.com/opendatakit/collect/issues/new describing the
workflow you have and how you think that user interface could be
improved? If you can attach a screenshot or two, that'd be awesome.

It might be that automatic save and exit is the right approach, but I
want to make sure we can have a discussion about the core problem
first.

Thanks,

Yaw
