[ODK Community] merge different data files in STATA

To put Neelima Amin's question in the right perspective I should mention
that the way question was posed, it does not seem to be a ODK question at
all. It seems like a data management issue. Since she posted in ODK I guess
her problem stems from including repeat groups in her form and when she
imported with OKD briefcase the repeat groups were exported in separate
files. Her problem is how to merge all those files into a single master
file. It is nothing to do with STATA or any other statistical software.
Therefore putting STATA in the title is quite misleading.

With this understanding, the right question might be how we can design a
XLS form where there would be identifiable unique key which will help us to
merge all separate files created in the repeat groups into a single master
file? I myself would also appreciate an answer.

Rushad

Hello,

I want to merge several data files which are in the Excel csv file. For
merging an unique id or variable is mandatory but i don't found any unique
common id or variable in my data files. There is only a common variable
named "key" in each file but the information or data under this "key"
variable is different in each file. As a result i can't merge my files.
please give me some suggestions to solve my problem

thank you
Neelima Amin

setofinfantinfo does the magic for me - that's if you are merging in stata
using the csv files from briefcase, u will love it both for append and
merge.
I suggest you download using briefcase, since in either mysql or postgress
the data is in multiple tables

If you use ODK and Stata, you'll want https://github.com/matthew-white/odkmeta.
