Populate data from csv

Hello,

I want to populate my form in ODK with old data which is in .csv format
while conducting survey for few number of fields. Is this possible using
ODK collect 1.3 or ODK collect 1.4

and ODK aggregate?

Thanks,

Renuka Prasad

Renuka Prasad,

See http://opendatakit.org/help/form-design/external-itemsets/ for details
on limited .csv support in Collect. Alternatively you can use SurveyCTO (
www.surveycto.com), which supports a greater range of pre-loading
capability. We're working with UW and Nafundi to bring SurveyCTO's
pre-loading into the core ODK suite, but there is no ETA yet on when that
will be done and released.

Best,

Chris

Chris I have had the same thought as well.........

I believe that the sqllite database would have to have the data row
uploaded with the default info and instance name populated and the
corresponding folder xml doc in the instances folder......

correct? or does it just need to be in the instances folder for collect to
see the record and start working on it...........? on save it should load
the data row to the database I believe.

correct me if I am off base. I am trying to do this as well.

John,

You might want to look at the ODK Tables and ODK 2.0 tools for two-way
updating.

For our next SurveyCTO release, we're making it so that pre-loaded data can
be put directly into survey fields (rather than just referenced in labels,
etc.). However, pre-loaded data still isn't dynamically updated -- it has
to be pre-loaded with the form definition. We'll release more details on
that when we release our next version.

Best,

Chris
