Good morning from France
Yesterday a colleague started a form in the field in the morning (Collect 1.30 / Central 1.2, administered mode), took a break and when he reactivated the phone, ODK ran the new version of the form it detected on Central (I updated it the night before) and started a blank form.
The data collected in the morning was lost. I think he probably didn't use the floppy disk icon to save the work, but I think it would be best not to allow a form definition to be updated while that form is open.
Do you mean they reopened Collect and were automatically in form entry or that they were back on the Main Menu and clicked through "Fill Blank Form" to get back to the form?
Hi @seadowg
I will ask it to my colleague more precision...
My colleague doesn't remember precisely. I remember he told me he went back to the main menu and he had to "Fill Blank Form" but I can't be 100% sure. Sorry I did not investigate more when it happened.
We believe that the root issue here was that an automatic recover savepoint was saved but because the form version was updated, the savepoint's version didn't match and so it was ignored.
In Collect v2024.2, we started explicitly prompting users to recover from savepoint. We also considered savepoints from every version of a form. We believe this issue is now addressed but please let us know if you see any other problems in this area!
