Projecting ODK Collect forms on projector from smartphone or tablet

Hi ODK Community,

We're planning a training on ODK Collect where the trainees will navigate
on tablets. However, to orient them on using the forms, it would be ideal
if we could display the trainer's tablet on a projector, so trainees can
follow along. The tablet/smartphones we have can connect to other hardware
through a USB port.

Can anyone recommend how we can use the tablet's USB cord to connect to the
projector's HDMI port? Or -- is there a way to simulate one's ODK Collect
forms on an internet browser, so that they can be projected from a laptop?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

You can use Bluestacks on a PC: http://www.bluestacks.com/

We use Vysor for projecting from phone via laptop and projector to screen for training. Best wishes

Hi Rachel,

I use the Android Emulator for trainings and it works great.

You can install it by installing the command line Android developer tools

@Rachel_Deussom, Sorry for late reply i was not ODK person at that time but now i am.
As well as i love technology. YOu can use google chrome and also there is a plugin in google chrome names Vysor(https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/vysor/gidgenkbbabolejbgbpnhbimgjbffefm), Use this plugin into google chrome and this will help you.
It's light weighted and anyone use this, it's very simple software.
Condition for Use: External USB Debugging must be ON on your android phone.

This was a really great discussion! I didn't know about Vysor and so I've filed an issue against the docs repo at https://github.com/opendatakit/docs/issues/306 so we can write up instructions for how people can it (and the emulator) project forms.

Hi, @Rachel_Deussom.

You can use bluestack, genymotion as android emulator. On the other hand, you can connect directly with LCD via HDMI Connector, but some device doesn't support with that. I have experience with Galaxy Note Pro via HDMI port and It works perfectly.
