I’m only seeing info about the pulldata() function here on the XLSForm website and not specifically on the ODK Docs website. Am I mistaken? Is that intentional? The Ask AI took me here: https://docs.getodk.org/form-datasets/#looking-up-values-in-datasets which isn’t exactly what I wanted. Eventually I found what I wanted here but thought this would be in the Docs.
I think it’s not intentional, just a result of resource constraints - ticket from 2019 here. External data is a complex topic with many options so it might also be an issue about how best to describe that in a straightforward way e.g. ticket from 2017 here. But there is an overview of the options in the “List lookups” tab of the XLSForm template, which also shows the equivalent instance expression. When I asked the docs AI about pulldata it include a link to https://xlsform.org/en/#how-to-pull-data-from-csv so it seems that page is considered at least. Was there anything in particular you were looking up about it or just general syntax?
Pulldata retrieves a value in the cell of the 'return_value' column in the same row where ${calc_lookup_value} is first found (starting from top to bottom) in the 'ID' column of the CSV called example.csv
