Hi everyone,

Is Odk able to automatically generate and send email alerts based on a data
validation criterion? Can Odk be setup to send an email listing say all
records with a height above a certain limit?

Hi Nicholas,

SurveyCTO has configurable quality checks -- including values too high or
too low, outliers, distributions or means that differ across groups, and
more -- and it will email summaries nightly as well as publish warnings to
Google Spreadsheets or Fusion Tables for easy tracking and follow-up.

While ODK Aggregate doesn't have anything built-in for this, I strongly
suspect that you could use its publishing options, together with a clever
set-up on the Google side, to achieve what you need. It would just take
some work: first, publish your data into Google, then figure out how to
transform that data into lists of alerts, then figure out how to email
those alerts. I know that there are lots of scripts for sending emails from
Google Spreadsheets, and I suspect that similar things are possible with
Fusion Tables.

Perhaps somebody on this list will be able to direct you to an example of
something close to what you want. (Many ODK users have devised ingenious
systems of reporting that are wrapped around the core ODK...)
