Setting number of digits in an integer type of question

What is the problem? Please be detailed.

I can not input number with more than 9 digits in the ODK collect questionnaire (form).

What ODK tool and version are you using? And on what device and operating system version?

Using excel and then XLS form to convert excel file in xml type

What steps can we take to reproduce the problem?

I have searched in ODK related web pages without success

What you have you tried to fix the problem?

Looked for manuals in the web

Anything else we should know or have? If you have a test form or screenshots or logs, attach here.

I need to input identification numbers with 17 spaces (including number and hyphens). Though, xlsform only allows to input 9 digits. How can I increase the number of digits in a response and also how can I set the format to inclue "-" (hyphens)? Thank you very much in advance for your kind support. For example I need to input taxpayer identification number: 0614-010580-002-5 and need to use this format to avoid errors during filling the form in the field.

Hi Mario,

I would suggest an easy solution for you to define the type as 'text' instead of 'integer' if you want to take alphanumeric inputs and if you would like to take longer numbers as input, you should do the following:
type = text
appearance = numbers

Thanks,
Imran
