Small UI Improvement to Public Access Links on ODK Central

What high-level problem are you trying to solve?
Just a quick UI fix that would make things easier for users and would take minimal effort.

I'm not sure why the access link needs to be in a scrollable text box, but the two most frequent things that I need to do with this link would be to:

1. open it in a new tab/window
2. copy the URL

If there were small icons, to the left of the access link (or even replacing it ) this would help users more quickly do what they need to do as the long string itself is a bit messy looking and I'm not sure if displaying it there actually helps users in any way...are users actually looking at that for something intelligible to distinguish between the different links they have?

Any ideas on how ODK could help you solve it?
For the most minimalist change and not adding both you could just add a copy icon just to the left of where the hyperlink scrollable text box starts that when clicked, immediately copies the URL to the users clipboard.

If you also wanted to add another icon to open that URL in a new tab I'd just put another icon to the left of the copy icon to do this.

I also recommend a link shortener. The link works fine as a hyperlink in text, but it's too long when shared in chat or places where hyperlinks aren't supported.

One needs to take the occasional trip to tinyurl or bitly to make it shorter.

We're going to make an improvement here for the next release, thanks for the nudge @Tyler_Depke. You can currently single click on the URL and that selects all of it for copying but we agree that's not as intuitive as it should be.

It's true that you can use a link shortener if your goal is to have a mostly public link. The reason the links are so long is so that they can't be easily copied in the case of links that are meant to be mostly private. This is analogous to links for Google Drive files, Zoom calls, etc that are publicly accessible but so long that they're impossible to copy over someone's shoulder. We eventually hope to add more configurability to these links so that you can pick a memorable link code if appropriate (e.g. https://my-central/f/my-form)
