Specifying data collection date in the automatic naming structure

Hello!
I am using ODK Build to make a survey and ODK briefcase to transfer completed surveys to a desktop (limited internet setting). I was wondering if there was a way to specify the date of collection in the name of the completed surveys. (i.e. if I am unable to get the surveys off the phone at the end of each data collection day or unwilling to delete each day's surveys off the phone, how can I make the name of the instances different so that the person who eventually gets the surveys off the phone will know from the name of the files to select these 15 surveys from Tuesday the 4th rather than Wednesday the 5th?).

I see something called "Instance Destination" in the Advanced settings but haven't been able to figure out what that does.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Amanda,

There is an instance_name option that you can specify if you use
XLSForm, but that name is only shown in ODK Collect and is not
actually encoded into the file.

If you are willing to send data on to Aggegate first, then you can use
the ODK Briefcase CLI (https://opendatakit.org/use/briefcase/) to
export submissions from a particular date range. If you can't do that,
then the only way to know the date is to look inside the file.

Thanks,

Yaw
