Tracing errors in ODK

[Fatal Error] TZ_FARMERORGANIZATION_SACCOSFINALV.xml:12:14: The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.

Hey am trying to trace this error but with no luck could someone please help? thanks.

Stewart,

As the error says, you are probably using a bad character (e.g.,
accents or special characters like > and <).

Duplicate your form, remove all but that row, and try using only A-Z
characters and iterate from there.

the problem should be on line 12, the 14th character in that line (in the
XML file)

I have a similar issue. However, when I try to open the XML File, it says it's impossible due to a parsing error in Line 13 Column 14. Not sure what could be causing the error since I cannot open the XML file. See attached.

The generated XML file cannot be opened or imported into Excel.

If you need to view the contents of the XML file (as in this case), you
must use a raw text editor. On Windows systems, we recommend Notepad++. If
you were to just double-click it, it would likely open in Internet
Explorer, and attempt to render it, which would not be useful.

If you ran the XLS file through our web-based XLSForm conversion tool and
generated an XML file that you can download, then the form has also passed
verification by ODK Validate.

If you used ODK Build or a local XLSForm conversion tool, it was not
verified by ODK Validate. Download ODK Validate here:

Double-click it to run it, and supply the form. It will report errors and
warnings.

As your form becomes more complex with choice filters and skip logic, you
will generally get extraneous warnings.
