Unable to collect GPS data via Android Emulator

I've been trying to use the current Android emulator (R13) to test some
forms following these ODK
instructionshttp://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/DevelopmentEnvironmentand
have had nothing but trouble with collecting GPS data - whenever I
record a location, the virtual device reboots. Before throwing in the
towel, I was wondering if anyone has this working?

My test environment looks like this:

  • Mac OS X 10.7.1
  • Android Emulator R13
  • Android 2.3.3 virtual device (API Level 10)
  • Collect v1.1.5

To set the location, I boot the device, telnet to localhost 5554 and run
"geo fix -121.45356 46.51119." To make sure it wasn't my form, I created a
test form http://dpaste.com/hold/623567/ with ODK build that only collects
a single location. Others have

location based services on the emulator, but am hoping that someone
has
a workaround.

hey patrick,

the android emulator is buggy. the workaround is to use a real device.
maybe grab a used one on craigslist or ebay?

Thanks for the info. Maybe update thesehttp://opendatakit.org/use/collect/
pages http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/DevelopmentEnvironmentwith
that tip? Could save others some headache.
