Web Collect

Is there a web version of ODK Collect, or any other service that would
allow users to take surveys from an offline computer and send them to
aggregate once online?

it's something we'd love to support (with some html5 and javascript
magic), but we currently don't have anything like this. there's been
talk from a number of groups about building it (see
http://groups.google.com/group/opendatakit-developers/browse_thread/thread/7c7e48f1d4c850bc
for more)...

I thought there was an application where you could write the data to sd card
on the device. If so then you could move it to a PC and upload it in a
variety of ways.

steve, you are probably thinking of kobo post processor from berkeley
(http://code.google.com/p/kobo/wiki/KoboPostProcessor). that
application runs on a local computer and can pull data from phones
running odk collect and convert it to a csv.

i believe what chad wants is a web only application for completing
xforms in a browser.

You are probably right. I haven't actually been able to sink my teeth into
any of this yet. I'm actually having problems getting it all set up on my
Windows 7 environment. I installed the android SDK (I guess I did it didn't
complain) but then when I try to run Eclipse it complains that it can't find
the Java RTE. I downloaded it so I know its there. Is there an ODK quick
start (from ground zero) somewhere? Thanks.

Sounds like you might need the JDK.

steve,

the easiest way to get started as a developer is to get the hello
world program running. start with
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html then continue with
http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/hello-world.html.

if you can't get the sdk installed, post a message to
http://groups.google.com/group/opendatakit-developers and all the
other devs can help...
