What is the correct unit for GPS altitude?

Let's say one is using GPS question types in their ODK implementation. I'm just wondering, when we try to manipulate/display the altitude data, how should we address it in its unit-of-measurement? Is it in meteres? feet? MAMSL?

Example: 66.5 MAMSL?

In ODK Collect we use meters.

@Abel_Melquiades_Call It says in the user interface of Collect "m" (See https://docs.opendatakit.org/form-question-types/#geopoint-widget). Is there another place in the docs that you'd expect to see that information?
