Hi gang, I am working on a project that will collect data in Arabic. Using
the most recent version of ODK and Nexus 4 phones.
I'd like to talk to anyone who has been working with Arabic, and if there
are special challenges you have run into.

If there is anyone using it for Hebrew, that would also be informative, as
they are both right-to-left flow languages.
At least a few of the prompt layouts (Java code) should be tweaked. I did
an Arabic port of a Windows terminal emulator program years ago. The UI
layer handled most everything without change, but we did need to make sure
we didn't have any screens with the prompts to the left of the data entry
field. e.g.,
What is your name: _____________
ODK Collect's 'select one list', 'select multi list' and the select-one
auto-advance screens would need to be adjusted in this way. i.e.,
________________ :eman rouy si tahW
The UI may or may not invert the location of the checkbox/radio button
w.r.t. the label (Windows did that, if I recall correctly, though there
were places where we had a short width radio button and need to make it
full-width so that it would align on the right-hand margins properly when
displayed in arabic).
If you supply the code patches, we will fold them into the mainline.

Hi Neil,
How did you go collecting data in Arabic with Arabic questions? I too have a couple of projects that are going to do this and we are having some issues with the appearance of questions on Android 2.3 phones where the questions "do not look right". Unfortunately I don't have more detail than that at this stage.
Any advice from someone with experience of using Arabic in an odk survey would be much appreciated.
