XMLform for the default example of Forest Plot Survey?

HI all

I'm new to ODK but I have read a lot of info in the website and watched the
video tutorials and am now looking forward to getting into the design of my
biodiversity survey form!

Rather than reinventing the wheel I would like to base my form on the
example form given in the ODK android app called Forest Plot Survey. This
is almost identical to the kind of form layout and data that I want to
collect.

Is the XML form or XLS file available for this form anywhere? Who developed
it? I can't find any information about it other than seeing it on the ODK
phone app.
It would save me SO much time to use this form as a template!

Thanks!

Why don't you use a form builder app to construct the form to your taste. There should be free online versions which you can use. Take a look at Kobotoolbox http://www.kobotoolbox.org/koboform/oldkoboform.html
Not really used it much though

Regards,
Anthony.

The XML for a form is always available -- that is the file used by ODK
Collect.

Generally, this is awkward to edit, which is why we developed Build and the
XLSForm converter (which allows you to write your survey as an Excel
workbook). I would recommend that you use XLSForm, as it is easier to work
with as your forms get larger and more complex, and is much easier if you
need to have several translations for your form.

Using a file browser on your Android, like OI File Manager, you can
typically select a file and mail it as an attachment. The file would be on
the sdcard, typically under /sdcard/odk/forms
In this case, it is Forest.xml, and the images and audio/video clips used
in the form are in the Forest-media folder. Here is a zip containing the
form and the media folder:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByL2Z0RJHwGab2xpZkxqQ1FINVU/view?usp=sharing

Eventually, as you get set up to develop a survey, you'll want to install
adb on your computer so you can push and pull files to the device. Once you
have the form definition figured out, you would then upload it to your ODK
Aggregate instance, and pull it down from there.

To clarify: we don't have the XLS file for this form. It was developed
before XLSForm existed.
