Introduce yourself here!

Hello all

I am an OpenClinica user rather than an ODK user but, like other OC users, find the ODK documentation and forums very useful.

Hello everyone,

I'm delighted to introduce myself to the ODK community! I'm typically based in Seattle, Washington, where I work as a data analyst for a non-profit organization focused on environmental conservation. My journey with the ODK community began a few years ago when I stumbled upon the power of open-source tools for data collection and management.

My ODK origin story started when I was tasked with streamlining our data collection process in the field. After some research, I discovered ODK and was immediately drawn to its flexibility, scalability, and the supportive ODK community. Since then, I've been an active contributor and advocate for ODK in various projects.

I've had the privilege of working on a range of ODK projects, from designing complex survey forms for public health research in rural areas to developing custom ODK Collect widgets to enhance user experience.

Outside of data collection and ODK, I have a few favorite pastimes. I love hiking in the Pacific Northwest, where I get to enjoy the stunning natural landscapes. I'm also an amateur photographer and have a passion for capturing the beauty of the great outdoors.

Fun Fact: I once participated in a community-driven reforestation project where we planted over 1,000 trees in a single day!

I'm excited to be a part of the ODK community and look forward to collaborating with all of you on innovative data collection solutions.

Best regards,
kevan

Hello everyone,

I'm a French agronomy engineer working for INRAe, a French research institute for agriculture, food and environment.
We are currently working on a European project called DIVINFOOD, which is about the co-construction of short food chains for the valorization of agrobiodiversity in healthy plant-based food.

I am in charge of database management and data production control. We decided to use ODK for this as it's a crowdsourced project and we need a tool that is easily accessible for everyone and flexible.

I'm looking forward to see how things will work out!

Hello,

I am Kagũnda Joseph from Kenya. I am a freelance software developer with experience primarily in C# and Linux. Recently, I have been transitioning into technical writing.

Four years ago, a friend asked for my help setting up ODK Central. This was my first time using ODK. I followed the documentation and the installation went smoothly. Since then, I have undertaken several custom ODK installations, each of which presented its own challenges and lessons learned.

The posts in this forum have taught me a lot, and I am grateful to join this community.

Glad you clarified 'Down Under' (there's more than one... :new_zealand:)

Hi All
This is Vivek from New Delhi, India. I am a medical doctor working as a Additional Professor of Community Ophthalmology at AIIMS New Delhi. I am a public health specialist with deep interest in data science, been involved in numerous small and large scale population based surveys.
Some of my research publications can be seen at my Google Scholar profile page.
I write a personal blog at www.epidemiology.tech
I have a deep-seated interest in leveraging IT for public health purposes and I think ODK is a great tool for the same. I have been a ODK user since 2008 when I was running my own instance of ODK on my desktop and users with android tablets would upload forms to it by connecting to the wireless router. Needless to say we have moved on since then and we now have a Central server with over 150,000 records ! All of this woudl not have been possible without the great work of the ODK team !
Looking forward to more interactions here !

Hello folks!

I am Pradeep, and I live in Bangalore, India. I am an ecologist and a conservation scientist, and an engineer in a previous professional life. My work regularly takes me down obscure (to me) alleyways broadly around large-scale geospatial data analysis, open and reproducible science and data workflows. I have known about and highly regarded ODK from the outside for many years, and have recently started to learn to incorporate it into work I'm involved in. Currently, I am exploring setting up an ODK-based data collection, management and insights pipeline for a small local enterprise around farmer livelihoods and coffee.

In the brief time I've been on this forum, I have already found it so useful, thanks to all you helpful folks generously sharing your learnings in the open. Looking forward to engaging more and learning together!
