ODK Aggregate won't stop refreshing

I uploaded 6 forms on to an empty deployment of ODK Aggregate on Appspot
last night. Since then, as soon as I login to Appspot, it starts refreshing
the page every second and it won't let me click anything. Here's an excerpt
of the error log. You can notice how quickly it's happening.

This occurs when you upload a form twice within about 3 seconds. The fix
for this issue will be in the 1.0.7 release.

To minimize the likelihood of this, consider lengthening the double-click
timer for your mouse.

Asim, I had the SAME problem when I was setting up a test project. I eventually gave up and DELETED the application on AppEngine. I'd be curious to find out if there's a fix for this. I have a new instance going and need it for a 3000 respondent survey. I CAN'T have this happening; kaos would ensue. :slight_smile:

When is 1.07 going to be released? ODK Aggregate goes LIVE for my project in less than a week. I hope all goes well when the data collectors submit 3000 forms over a period of 2 weeks. :slight_smile:

My instance is slated for deletion on the 19th of May. I just cancelled the
deletion, but the refresh bug is affecting me too. Can you PLEASE do what

Hi Ariel,

I am not seeing anything unusual with this instance. The UI does refresh
the submissions list every 20 seconds or so.

Try the site using Chrome or Firefox; it may be a browser issue.

What exact behavior are you seeing? I don't see any activity other than the
20-second refresh.

Hi,
I'm having the same infinite loop issue at bandhana-3@.appspot.com

I checked to see if there were two instances of the same form but it doesnt seem to be the same. I read through http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AppEngineTroubleshooting

Can anyone help out?

Hey all

we have encountered the problem before and here is the process for resolving it
Step 1. Check the server logs for the form responsible for the refreshing - Check the error log to find the exact form ID. It should be the last form you tried to upload by clicking upload twice consecutively within an interval of 3 seconds

Step 2: Check in the ODK database for the table named " _form_info " and open it

Step 3: Look for a record in the table with the same Form ID that is throwing errors

step 4. Delete the record

Step 5: Restart the tomcat engine

The problem should now be solved

we encountered the same problem and this is how we solved it: NB: We are
using a hosted ODK aggregate database(postgresql)

Step 1: Check through the server logs to identify the specific FORM_NAME
and ID that is responsible for the refreshing. It should be the Last form
you tried to upload twice in close succession.

Step 2: Check in the database for the table named " _form_info

Step 3: Look for the record that has the form ID of the problematic form
and delete it

Step 4: Restart the tomcat service (if you are using linux, type the
command service tomcat restart

Step 5: Open ODK aggregate web interface. (the problem should be solved
for now)

NOTE: this problem occurs when you upload the SAME FORM DEFINITION to the
server within 3 seconds. * It does not occur* when two or more filled-in
forms are submitted to the server at the same instant.

The work around is, if you think you might have clicked "Upload Form" or
clicked to publish a form from Build into Aggregate, then you should count
out at least 3 seconds before clicking a second time. Note that because of
the time it takes to spin-up a new AppEngine instance, you might need to
wait even longer if you're publishing from Build and haven't accessed your
server immediately beforehand.

We are hoping to get some JSON export functionality into 1.0.7, but various
deadlines and coursework are slowing that down. We may push 1.0.7 without
that feature just to get this fix out there.

THANKS a lot for fixing the refresh problem. Yes, I do remember doing a
form upload and thinking that the button wasn't pressed and immediately
submitting it again. :slight_smile:

The same is happening to me. I am not out of quota, and I can't see what the problem is. I tried to follow the steps posted for troubleshooting but there is not double entry. What else should i try?

I checked to see if there were two instances of the same form but it doesnt seem to be the same. I read through http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AppEngineTroubleshooting

Thanks for you quick reply and referencing to this groups, I corrected the quota limitation but still does the site is keeping of refreshing and I cannot see all the data set submission.

The problem occurs when the uploading of a form causes 2 records to be
inserted when only 1 is expected.

The number of rows in opendatakit._form_info should match the number of
rows in opendatakit._form_info_fileset, _form_info_bin, _form_info_ref, and
_form_info_blb

In this case, the form "test_form" has 2 entries in _form_info_fileset,
instead of just one.

The steps are to use the Datastore Viewer on the AppEngine dashboard to
identify each chain of entries beginning with the two _form_info_fileset
records.

Once you identify each chain, you simply need to delete one of them.

If that doesn't fix the issue, another failure that can cause this is to
have duplicate entries in the _form_info_submission_association table.
