Use geometry from entity layer as basemap

Hi all,

One of the features that would really be helpful for us is to be able to plot our geometric features (polygon/points) as a basemap in the ODK app.

For example: During a site registration we map the boundaries of a planting site (polygon). These polygons are then saved as an entity layer (with geometry) so that this layer can be used for (longitudinal) monitoring (site selection). However, I would also like to use this entity layer as a basemap layer to assist the enumerator where he/she is when creating a geopoint (sample location) inside the polygon of interest or when creating a new polygon adjacent to an existing polygon (without creating overlap).

I saw that there is a similar topic on this forum, but I can't find it anymore. This post is to emphasize/endorse that having a basemap with the geometric features that you want to monitor would be a big benefit for landuse projects. Look forward hear about the discussion/ideas and progress made on this. Thanks!

I also was sure there was already a post in the Ideas category but I can't find it so I've taken the liberty of moving yours!

This is something we've thought about quite a bit but don't have a concrete direction on yet. More broadly, we'd like to have a single way to express "map this existing data from my form context on this geo question". This would also address the need expressed in Mapping within a repeat group : show already drawn objects on the geowidget map

Thanks for describing your use case and getting the conversation started!
